James Blackwell Obituary

James Blackwell Jr. PORTSMOUTH - James L. Blackwell Jr., 73, also known as "Bubby," of the 900 block of Geneva Ave., was called home to be with the Lord Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010. James was born in Haverstraw, N.Y., to the late Mary Blackwell and the late James Blackwell Sr. He served in the U.S. Navy and was employed as a grocery store stocker. James leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Jeanette Featherston; two nieces, Brenda Boone and Deborah Futrell; two nephews, James Featherston and Kevin Blackwell; a special great-niece, Sonia Boone and a special great-nephew, Bobby Boone. Also left to cherish his memory are two aunts and a host of cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. Viewing will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held at noon Monday, Dec. 27, at the funeral home. Condolences for the family may be offered at www.jtfisherfuneralservices.com.
