James Elwell Obituary

James C. Elwell VIRGINIA BEACH - James C. Elwell, U.S. Navy retired, 73, passed away peacefully May 2, 2010 in Sentara Bayside Hospital. James was born June 26, 1936 in Philadelphia to the late Clifford and Helen Elwell. Mr. Elwell was preceded in death by his late wife, Catherine Elwell. Mr. Elwell served our country proudly in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. James was a member of the Lion's Club and the I.O.O.B. He will always be remembered as a loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed. Left to cherish his memory are three sons, George, Danny, and Tom and wife Jennifer Elwell; two daughters, Janet Elwell and Deborah Kail; a sister, Kay Lukasko; three grandchildren, Madison and Dennis Elwell, Bobby Kail Jr., two great-grandchildren; mother of his children, Kay Elwell; and longtime friend and caregiver, Carmen Payne. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Rosewood- Kellum Funeral Home with a funeral at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park with full military honors.
