James P. Tucker|
Virginia Beach - James P. Tucker, 94, long-time resident of Chick's Beach, passed away October 16, 2013 at home. Known as "Tucker" to all, he was born in San Diego, California. He was predeceased by his mother, Josephine Morris Judd and his three sisters, Edith, Beatrice and Alice, and his wife Sue Kei Tucker. Survivors include his son, Jimmy Tucker (Jackie), daughter, Carolyn Kapusta (Gene) and granddaughter, Debbie. He is also survived by his long-time companion, Joan Brooks.
A self-made man, James had a work ethic that served him well during the Depression, a 20-year career in the U.S. Navy that began with service in World War II, and as a successful businessman who established Henry Hanson Tucker Realty Corporation along with his partners, Jack M. Hanson and Hank Henry. He was a member of the Norfolk Boat Club and volunteered for many service organizations including the Saints and Sinners (Consolvo Tent).
The family wants to thank all of his caregivers, especially Shirley Hall and Generosa Robinson.
Visitation with the family will be held at the Great Neck Chapel of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home - Great Neck Chapel on Saturday, October 26, 2013 between 2 and 4 p.m. at 1264 Great Neck Rd., North, Virginia Beach.
