James Riddick Obituary

James Riddick VIRGINIA BEACH - James Riddick, 69, departed this life on June 6, 2010. Born in Norfolk, Mr. Riddick was a U.S. Army and National Guard Veteran, and he retired from the City of Chesapeake Stormwater Division. He was also a member of New Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk. He was preceded in death by his adopted mother, Irene Smith; his biological parents, James Bedford and Mae Riddick; and his brother, William Brown. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Anita Mahone-Riddick; stepdaughter, Deneen Jones and Tara Boone; sons, Renaldo Riddick, Anwar Riddick, Troy, Terrance, and David Wiliford; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and other family members. Viewing will be held Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A homegoing service will be Friday, June 11, at noon in New Calvary Baptist Church with interment to follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Nita, my thoughts and prayers go out to you. Although I had not seen Riddick in a few years, I feel (and continued to do so) that he was a friend of mine over the last 35 years.

James was always such a pleasant person to be around. He had a great sense of humor and I know he loved Anita with all his heart. He will be missed by all who knew him.
