Chesapeake - Jason Michael Cassels, 24 of the 2000 block of Angler Court, was called home to God on February 23, 2013. He is a native of Virginia Beach and lived most of his life in Hampton Roads. He is the son of Robert Michael and Jane Artusa Cassels.
Jason graduated from Deep Creek High School in 2006 and the College of William and Mary in 2011 with a degree in Business Marketing. He was currently taking pre-med courses with a goal of applying to medical school in the near future.
He was an avid athlete and enjoyed playing ice hockey, surfing, and snowboarding.
Survivors include his parents of Chesapeake and his sisters; Rachel A. Brown and her husband Adam and son Ethan of Virginia Beach, Jessica L. Trauger and her husband Derek and son Landon of DeLand, Florida, his maternal grandparents, Frank and Rosemarie Artusa of Lake Mary, Florida and paternal grandparents, William and Patricia Cassels of Springfield, Pennsylvania.
A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the Chesapeake chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 1416 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA. The family will receive friends in the funeral home following the service until 9:00 PM. The Reverend Marc Brown will officiate.
