Joanne Bruce Rixey HARRISONBURG - Joanne Bruce Rixey, 77, of Harrisonburg, Va., passed away, Saturday, April 24, 2010, in Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg. Joanne was born in Norfolk on March 6, 1933 to John Strode Rixey and Barbara James Rixey. She had a loving soul, a twinkle in her eye, and a turn for fashion and was loved by all. Surviving Joanne is her sister, Ellen Rixey Barber of Charlottesville, Va., and her nephews, John Rixey Barber of Charlottesville, William Strode Barber of Gordonsville, Va., and James Presley Barber of Charlottesville and their families. Graveside services will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper, Va., today, April 28, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Shelby Owen conducting the service.
