John A. Lasko Sr.
Chesapeake - John Albert Lasko, Sr., 81, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 in a local hospital. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of the late Mary Duran Lasko and John Lasko. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Lasko. He served in the U. S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service. Following that service he went to work and retired from Packard Electric where he was an inspector for over 13 years. Later he went to work for U. S. Civil Service at NOB where he retired in 1994.
John was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, the Fleet Reserve Association, and was an avid fisherman.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 59 years, Sue Ross Lasko; a daughter, Mary Beth Christe and her husband Russell of Chesapeake; two sons, John A. Lasko Jr. and Steven M. Lasko and his wife, Rhonda all of Chesapeake; three sisters, Anne Senchesak, Delores Romandetti, and Janet Shives all of Youngstown, Ohio; a brother, Donald Lasko of Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Matthew Eckman, Kimmy Lasko, Mikey Lasko, and Jordan Christe.
A Christian wake service will be conducted on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Chesapeake Chapel of H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 1416 Cedar Rd., followed by a visitation until 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 9:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Reverend Fr. Romeo Jazmin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 621 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake, VA 23322. Online condolences may be offered to the family through
