Joseph M. Joyner VIRGINIA BEACH - Joseph Malcolm "Mal" Joyner, 94, passed peacefully from this world to his eternal reward Nov. 21, 2010. A native of Portsmouth, he was a member of Cradock Baptist Church for 91 years serving as an adult mens Sunday School teacher and Deacon Emeritus. He retired from Norfolk Paint Company in 1978 and enjoyed his free time playing golf as a member of Elizabeth Manor Country Club. He will be lovingly remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and the family of Cradock Baptist Church. His Christian character and optimistic attitude throughout his life influenced his family and those who knew him and will continue to serve as a lasting legacy. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph Douglas Joyner; a sister, Edna Quittman; and a brother, Francis Joyner. Mal leaves behind a brother, Douglas Mercer Joyner of Norfolk; his daughter, Sally Holloman and her husband Wayne of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great- great-grandaughter; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cradock Baptist Church, 96 Afton Parkway, Portsmouth, VA 23702 by Pastor Rob Edwards. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cradock Baptist Church. H.D.
