Norfolk - Justin "Pat" Pasquale DiNini, 91, passed away on Wed., Dec. 11, 2013. A member of "The Greatest Generation", Pat made service to his country and family paramount throughout his life. Pat was born in Endicott, NY, joined the Navy at 18, training as a corpsman. He was assigned to a special Naval Reconnaissance Unit that landed on Utah Beach in northern France on June 8, 1941. A participant in the liberation of Europe, Pat was proud of the role he played in that campaign. After W.W. II, Pat settled in Norfolk and continued service to his country eventually retiring in 1982. He loved to be surrounded by friends and family, dancing, bowling, and socializing at restaurants and concerts. He enjoyed nothing more than cooking large pots of sauce and pounds of pasta making sure everyone around his table had plenty to eat.
Pat is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ivana DiNini; a sister, Rose Iannone; his children, Georgia Stokes, Anthony DiNini and his wife, Judy, Patrick DiNini and his wife, Irma, Theresa Parks and her husband, Steve; stepchildren, Jakon Hays and his wife, Mirela, Perrin Bradshaw and her husband, Adam; grandchildren, Justin, Nick, Anthony, Leila, Luke, Zoe, Lilly and Wynn.
A memorial service and inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Dec. 19 at the First Lutheran Church of Norfolk. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com.
