Kenneth Taaffe Obituary

Kenneth E. Taaffe VIRGINIA BEACH - Kenneth Edward Taaffe, 87, died Nov. 10, 2010. Mr. Taaffe, a native of Bloomfield, N.J., retired in 1987 as a sales representative with the Harbison Walker Refractories Company, Pittsburgh, after 34 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Norfolk, and served as a U.S. Navy officer during World War II and the Korean conflict. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lilly Hancock "Lee" Taaffe; a daughter, Carol H. Taaffe and husband, Kent B. Johnson Jr. of Norfolk; two sons, Kenneth E. Taaffe Jr. and wife Miriam of Lumberton, N.J., Andrew A. Taaffe and wife Linda of Devon, Pa.; three grandchildren, Jessica Taaffe, Brian Taaffe and Lindsey Taaffe; a brother, George A. Taaffe and wife Ruth of Whippany, N.Y.; and sister-in-law, Helen G. Taaffe of Savannah, Ga. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Norfolk. The Rev. Scott Hennessy will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 201 St. Paul's Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23510. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is assisting the family.
