Lester Howell Obituary

Lester Howell VIRGINIA BEACH - Lester Howell, 80, of the 1600 block of Mill Oak Drive, died June 17, 2010 in his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was born in Augusta, Ga., and was the son of the late Herbert and Viola Howell. Lester retired as a chief storekeeper from the U.S. Navy as a logistics engineer and was a veteran of the Korean War. Lester is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois F. Howell; four daughters, Deborah Arp of El Cajon, Calif., Wendy Payne and husband Togie of Falmouth, Va., Carol Diane Jones and husband Mark of Miami, and Phyllis Churm and husband Steve of Chesapeake; two granddaughters, Charity Waldman and Julia Payne; five grandsons, Chip Wilson III and wife Veronica, Rocky Hanks IV, Steven Churm Jr., Charles Payne and wife Katie and Frank Payne and wife Caren; one great-granddaughter, Valentina Wilson; seven nieces; and two nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Thomas Arp. All services will be private. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, handling arrangements.
