Dear John, Sarah, & Miles, I cannot even imagine the loss you must & will feel without Susan. She was one of the most passionate, loving, and wonderful people I have ever known. I am blessed to have had her as a friend. I will never forget her, and I delight in knowing that she is not only singing in heaven's angel choir...by now she is probably leading it! My love and sincere sympathy to you.

Every once in a long while, we are lucky enough to meet someone who just radiates life and love and humor, a person who lifts the spirits of everyone nearby. Susan Monroe was not only one of those, she was their teacher, their beacon, their queen. To have been fortunate enough in my life to know not only Susan, but also John Monroe, is a blessing beyond measure. To have known two such people during my youth, to have lived in the joy they shared.... Well, it brings tears to my eyes, both for my own sake and for the loss John and Sarah and Miles have suffered this week.
Even now I find it impossible to think of Susan Monroe without smiling. Her beauty, her follies, her singing voice, her yelling voice, her gorgeous children, her wonderful husband, the lucky kids she taught in Martinsville and Chesapeake. She will live on in me, as she will in the thousands of lives she has touched over the years.
With as much love as I can possibly send to John, Sarah, Miles and Susan.

John, Sarah and Miles,
At this time in your lives remember the final verse of the 23rd psalm, for this is not an end but a beautiful beginning for we know Susan will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. God bless you all.

John, Miles and Sarah,
I was so sorry to hear of the loss of such a beautiful and full soul. There are not enough words to describe Susan. She was LIFE! Full of so many wonderful qualities. She had a way of making you believe in yourself like no one else. I can see her on the fields of GRP and in the halls in the mornings, so full of joy and bubbling. Singing at your home and opening her house for such beautiful celebrations. So much to be said about Susan, for now , you all are in my prayers and thoughts. Although you know she is at peace with God, your hearts ache for her. I pay the love and joy she offered will fill you all until you meet her again!
My Love,
Betsy Ham
