Linwood M. Ewell CHESAPEAKE - Linwood M. Ewell, 93, passed away Nov. 5, 2010. A native of Portsmouth, he was the son of the late Clarence and Millie Jones Ewell and husband of the late Virginia Mae Ewell. He was a U.S. Army veteran and awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge and a Purple Heart from his service in World War II in the Italian Campaign. He retired as an electronic measurement equipment mechanic from Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility after 34 years of service. He is survived by a daughter, Gloria Tappe of Chesapeake; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to his caregivers, Sheila, Melanie, Carolyn, Casi, and Tabatha. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations, 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at noon at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St., Norfolk. Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
