Margaret Cofield Obituary

Margaret Cofield WINDSOR - Margaret Cofield, 92, passed away peacefully Sept. 20, 2010 in Consulate Health Care of Windsor. She was born in Orbit, Va., to the late Hudson P. and Dollie G. Cofield. She was predeceased by sisters, Ida Ruth C. Holland, Louise C. Whitley; and brothers, G. Emmett Cofield, H. P. Cofield Jr. and Robert F. Cofield Sr. "Aunt Margaret," as she was known to family and friends, worked as a secretary for Mr. C.T. Garner for many years. She was a lifelong member of Woodland United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher in the Beginner Class, counselor for the youth group, a member of the United Methodist Women, Ladies Bible Class and on almost every committee while she was able. She was "care-giver" in the true sense of the term, helping many families through difficult times. She is survived by a sister, Martha C. Griffin; a sister-in-law, Mildred S. Cofield; nieces, Dell Joyner, Jacklyn Meeker, Daphne Harris, Betsy Woodruff; and nephews, Jack W. Holland Jr., Thomas C. Holland, Robert F. Cofield Jr., James E. Cofield, Trip Cofield and Garry Cofield. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, in Woodland United Methodist Church, 20051 Orbit Road, Windsor, VA 23487 by the Rev. Michael Harrington. The family will receive friends at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, today from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Blatchford/Raveling Scholarship Fund c/o Woodland UMC 20051 Orbit Road, Windsor, VA 23487. The family would like to thank Consulate Health Care of Windsor and Odyssey Hospice for their compassionate care. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
