Margaret Moore Keatley VIRGINIA BEACH - Margaret Moore Keatley, 99, died Nov. 8, 2010 in her home at 3100 Shore Drive. Mrs. Keatley, the widow of George Henry Keatley, was the daughter of the late Eugene and Ada Purcell Moore. Born Nov. 13, 1910, in Gloucester, Va., Mrs. Keatley was a graduate of Maury High School in 1928, Harrisonburg State Teachers' College in 1932, and The University of Chicago in 1939. Mrs. Keatley dedicated 37 years to teaching in the field of business education: Cottey College, Mo., Beckley College, W.Va., Mountain State College, W.Va., Parkersburg High School, W.Va., Stonewall High School, W.Va., and Maury High School. In 1963, she was among the first to work for the Manpower Program, teaching business skills to uplift job possibilities for adults. Throughout her life, she also used her gift of teaching in the church. Mrs. Keatley was a former member of Miles Memorial United Methodist Church; however, she was most recently a member of Baylake United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sister, Eugenia M. Basnight and husband Alexander "Joe" Basnight of Midlothian, Va.; niece, Mary B. Donovan of Laurel, Md.; and nephews, Allan Lee Basnight of Montgomery, Ala., Charles C. Boomer of Palm Coast, Fla., and Gen. Walter E. Boomer of Bray's Island, S.C.; as well as five great-nephews and four great-nieces. A memorial service will be held Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Chapel at Westminster-Canterbury, 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach. The Rev. Michelle Louk and the Rev. Richard Keever, chaplain, Westminster-Canterbury, will preside. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Anderson Bay View Room. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Virginia Wesleyan College, The Westminster Fellowship Fund or a charity of your choice.
