Virginia Beach - Marion Lee Alderman, 87, went to be with Jesus Dec. 14, 2013. Marian was a resident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Virginia Beach. She was born Dec. 20, 1925 in Gloucester, VA and graduated from Botetourt High School in 1944.
Marian went to work for United States Lines in 1945 until 1953 and then again from 1967 until 1986. She enjoyed working and held a number of clerical and administrative positions. Marian made a friend of everyone she met including those she worked with; she was loved by all. Marian was a member of South Norfolk Baptist Church and more recently attended Heritage United Methodist Church.
Marian is preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Willie Lee and Alice; and sister, Elsie Moore. She is survived by her brother, Chandler Dunston; daughter, Patricia H. Alderman; and son, Edward C. Alderman and his wife Mary Jane.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, at Rosewood Memorial Park. You may pay condolences to the family at www.kellumfuneralhome.com.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and the Hospice Staff at Medi Home Care. Both organization afforded our mother loving and comfort care during her last two years of life. Patricia and Edward want to extend a special acknowledgement to Don and Leora Porter, neighbors of the Alderman family. Don and Leora were kind beyond words to our family over many years.
