Marion Runyon

Marion E. Runyon CHESAPEAKE - Marion E. Runyon of Elbow Road passed away Monday, April 26, 2010, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was 86 years old. She was born May 26, 1923 in Buffalo, N.Y. and enjoyed an active retirement for 24 years. She volunteered for 18 years at Sentara Oak Grove Nursing Center and was named Volunteer of the Year in 1990. In 1994, she was awarded a certificate of appreciation by the city of Chesapeake for her many years of service to the city. Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Wendy Steen, her husband, Joe of Chesapeake; a son, Craig Runyon of Norfolk; three granddaughters and their husbands; four great- grandchildren; and many, many friends. A private memorial service will be held by the family later in the week. In lieu of flowers, those who loved her are encouraged to make a donation in her name to the American Lung Association.
