Mary Emma H. H. Eason KILL DEVIL HILLS - Mary Emma "Polly" Hancock Harris Eason departed this life to be with the Lord April 12, 2010 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Raleigh, N.C., on Jan. 16, 1925. She spent her teen years in Alta Vista, Va., where she graduated from Alta Vista High School. Her family then moved to Norfolk where she spent the majority of her adult life. Mary worked for the C&P Telephone Company for more than 40 years and retired prior to moving to the Outer Banks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dee Murr Harris Jr. and her parents, Evelyn and Frank Gregory. Mary is survived by her daughter, Gail Harris Wilson and husband Ron Wilson of Amelia, Va. Polly is also survived by her brother, John D. Hancock Jr. and sister-in-law, Lucille Hancock of Burlington, N.C. Her grandchildren, Alison King and husband Nathan of Midlothian, Va., Colleen Anderson of Virginia Beach and Grace Wilson of Amelia will miss her. She is also survived by a grandson, Michael Lynam of Charleston, S.C. Also missing "Sugar" will be her great-grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, and Julia King, Harris and Hylton Lynam, Donald and Shawna Anderson, and Kayla Morgan. Additional survivors include a niece, Judy Clary of Burlington; a nephew, John Hancock of Dallas, Texas; her special friend, Suat Basaran; and her much loved dog, Happy. The funeral will be held Friday, April 17, at Ocean View Baptist Church on the Beach Road in Kill Devil Hills at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at church one hour prior to services. The eulogist will be Pastor Steve Seigrist. Interment will take place following the funeral at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk with the Rev. James Colvin officiating. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Paige Harrell as well as numerous friends and neighbors for their love and support during Mary's illness.
