Mildred Brand Obituary

Mildred R. Brand HERTFORD - Mildred Irene Riggs Brand, 81, died Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the Albemarle Hospital. Mrs. Brand, a native of Mathews County, Virginia, was the daughter of the late Lloyd Clarence Riggs and Olive May Sadler Riggs and the widow of Louis Alton Murphy Sr. She was a homemaker. She is survived by a daughter, Kim Renee White of Hertford; two sons, Louis Alton Murphy Jr. and wife Beverly Jean of Elizabeth City and Ronald Lee Murphy and wife Donna Sue of South Mills, N.C.; three sisters, Ethel Chappelle, Jean Bryant and Catherine Ann Craig; two brothers, Guy Riggs and Lloyd Riggs Jr.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. A funeral will be Monday, June 28, at 11 a.m. at Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. Burial will be at Charity Church Cemetery in Pungo, Va., at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. You may express condolences to the Brand family by visiting www.twifordfh.com.
