Myrtle Schomaker Obituary

Myrtle N. Schomaker NORFOLK - Myrtle Newman Schomaker, 98, of the 300 block of E. McGinnis Circle, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 at her home. Born in Princess Anne County, to the late Janie and George Newman, Myrtle was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church and the Ladies of the Moose. She was the retired owner of Schoe's Drive-In. Myrtle was the widow of George H. Schomaker and is survived by a daughter, Jean F. Weatherly; three sisters, Charlotte Drewry, Lector Newman, Phyllis Styron and husband J.L.; two brothers, Ray Newman and wife Joyce and Guy Newman and wife Bonnie; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son-in-law, Joe Weatherly; four sisters, Elizabeth Murrell, Alice Ballance, Elby Burns, Lector Newman; and two brothers, George Newman Jr. and Norman Newman. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Dr. Prentis McGoldrick officiating. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
