Nassawadox - Nancy Lynn Hamilton LeCato, 83, died peacefully at Heritage Hall in Nassawadox, Virginia on Saturday, March 16, 2013. She was predeceased by her parents, the late Grover Cleveland Hamilton and the late Etta Pearle Jones Hamilton, and two sisters, Lucile Hamilton Horsley and Gertrude Hamilton Pearson.
A graduate of Northampton High School in Eastville and Madison College in Harrisonburg, Virginia, she later earned a Master's Degree in Education from Old Dominion University. She was a retired librarian, having spent the last twenty years of her career as Coordinator of Media Services for Northampton County Public Schools. She was a member of the Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and a lifelong member of Franktown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her devoted husband of sixty years, James Ashby LeCato of Nassawadox; three children, Ann L. Custis and her husband
Tommy of Painter, James "Jim" A. LeCato, Jr. and his wife Rae of Franktown, William "Bill" B. LeCato and his wife Tina of Franktown; six grandchildren, James T. Custis, lll of Fort Collins, Colorado, Lynn C. Thornton of Exmore, Hillary C. Williams of Chester, Jordan R. LeCato, Jessica L. LeCato, and Sara A. "Allison" LeCato of Franktown; two step-grandchildren Bethany W. Parks of Columbia, South Carolina and Michael D. Parks of Fort Schuyler, New York; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Franktown United Methodist Church with Reverend Alex Joyner officiating. Interment at Franktown Cemetery will be private.
