Nancy McCready
Richmond - Nancy Bradley McCready, of Richmond, passed away January 24, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Thomas Edward McCready Jr., USA (ret.) She is survived by three children, Thomas E. McCready III of Montross, Va., Nancy McCready Pennington of Burbank, Calif., Mary McCready Ridgway of Laurel, Md.; five grandchildren, Carley Anne McCready, Matthew M. Pennington, Jamie A. Voorhees, Zachary T. Pennington and Victoria C. Ridgway; a great-grandson, Jackson Van Voorhees; two sisters, Elizabeth Thompson of Vero Beach, Fla., Suzanne Hardy of Dripping Springs, Texas; sister-in-law, Ann McCready Vargo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Born March 9, 1930 to the late Ruth Perry Bradley and Kenneth R. Bradley in Richmond, she attended The College of William & Mary and received her master's degree in Education from George Mason University. She enjoyed teaching for many years. An army wife, she traveled extensively, retiring in Richmond and residing in her later years at Westminster Canterbury. A longtime member of Church of the Holy Comforter, she volunteered in many areas of church activities. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Holy Comforter, 4819 Monument Ave., Richmond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 96280, Washington, D.C. 20077

Nancy and Tom were wonderful neighbors when we lived next door to them on Ashlawn Drive. She was so proud of her family and talked about her children and grandchildren with great pride.
We were so sad to hear about Nancy.
