Nancy Smink Obituary

Nancy W. Smink VIRGINIA BEACH - Nancy W. Smink, 64, lost her battle with cancer Dec. 4, 2010. Nancy was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John D. Smink; her parents, Edward and Audrey Whitenack; and her brother, Michael Whitenack. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Janelle Riccio and daughter's boyfriend Thomas Gernheuser. Nancy has two beautiful grandchildren, Glenn "Allen" Andrews and Krista Lee Andrews; Tom's sons, Taylor Joson and Jessey Gernheuser; and a great-granddaughter, Anastazia Marie Sheffield. Nancy is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Edwina and William Naujoks; nieces, Michelle Buddo and Jennifer Smith; nephew, Michael Whitenack; and all of their wonderful families and Laurence Andrews, grandfather of Allen and Krista. Nancy was a loyal civil service employee of the Naval Supply Center, Norfolk Naval Station, for many years. After retiring from civil service, she was a volunteer at both Sentara Leigh Hospital and the American Red Cross. She was generous to a fault and happiest when she was helping someone in need. In her usual selfless manner, Nancy desired to make anatomical donations to both the Lions Club and Eastern Virginia Medical School. Nancy will be greatly missed by her family and friends but will always be in their hearts. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society 4416 Expressway Drive Virginia Beach, VA 23452. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. in Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road Virginia Beach. Condolences may be offered at www.altmeyer. com.
