Nettie Byrum Obituary

Nettie Mae Byrum AHOSKIE - Mrs. Nettie Mae Byrum, 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011 in Windsor, N.C. A celebration of Nettie Mae's life will be held at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m., the Rev. J.N. Baggett will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens in Ahoskie. Nettie Mae was a member of Brantley's Grove Baptist Church of Ahoskie. She was a choir member and primary class Sunday school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Thomas Byrum Sr.; and her parents, Albert and Addie Godwin. One of seven children, she was a devoted and loving mother with a kind heart. Her surviving children include: son, A.T. Byrum Jr. and wife Joyce; daughter, Agnes Perry and husband Gaston of Raleigh; son, Linwood Byrum and wife Carolyn of Ahoskie; daughter, Sheryl Byrum Harrell of Ahoskie. Grandchildren are Walter Perry III of Nashville, Tenn.; Trey Byrum and Al Byrum of Ahoskie; Wood Byrum of Greenville, N.C. and Amy Lassiter of Angier, N.C.; and Chad Harrell of Eure, N.C., and Brooke Harrell of Greenville; also there are four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home in Ahoskie. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Brantleys Grove Baptist Church, 601 Ahoskie- Cofield Road, Ahoskie, NC 27910.
