Ninfa Lianez

Norfolk - Ninfa T. Lianez, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

Born November 24, 1942 in Catanduanes, Province of the Philippines, she would later marry Emanuel Lianez, (USN, retired) in 1967, and eventually make their home in Norfolk, Virginia, where they raised their five children. She took great pride in being a military family, and while she was also proud to be an American citizen, love for her home country would never leave her heart.

She was a devoted wife and mother, who believed her greatest accomplishments are her children. She was a kind friend and "mother" to many kids outside of her own. Always welcoming, there was never a stranger in her home.

She enjoyed pouring much of her creative energies into cooking delicious dishes from her native Philippines, sewing, crotchet and gardening. She also loved to go dancing and singing karaoke.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Emanuel J. Lianez, her six children and their spouses and grandchildren: Serafin Olesco and his wife Marilee of San Diego, CA, and their children Mark and Ariel; Maria and her husband Michael Murphy of Dallas, TX, and their son Quinn; Ramon and his wife Carmen of West Liberty, OH and their children Bradley and Corey; LtCol Raul Lianez, USMC, and his wife Dusti of Fairfax, VA and their children Kylie, Noah and Morgan; Ricardo and his wife Wendy of Harrisonburg, VA; and Roberto and his wife Merrilee and their children Ira and Eli.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, at 1 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Norfolk, VA. A gift of flowers can be sent to Hollomon-Brown funeral home; or, memorial donations in her name may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church, 1803 Columbia Ave., Norfolk, VA.
