Norman Butler Obituary

Norman Butler Jr. PORTSMOUTH - Norman Anthony "Bubber" Butler Jr., 87, died peacefully Dec. 31, 2010. Mr. Butler, a native of Portsmouth, was a retired fire control mechanic from the Naval Air Rework Facility with 30 years of service. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus No. 418, and had been a Scout Master with BSA Troop 230. He was the widower of Teresa Lepore Butler since her death in 2001. He is survived by four children, Dr. Michael A. Butler and wife Denise of Williamsburg, John D. Butler and wife Katherine of The Woodlands, Texas, Paul V. Butler and wife Rebecca of Southbury, Conn., Anne Marie Colby and husband Scott of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren, Geoffrey Butler and fiancée Lara Kurth, Andrew Butler and wife Jamie Jennings, David and James Butler, James, Erin and Lindsay Butler, and Kristen Colby; and a great-granddaughter, Claire Marie Williams. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Catholic Church by the Rev. David W. Cupps. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Hampton Roads Chapter, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
