Paul Smailes Obituary

Paul E. Smailes ELIZABETH CITY - Paul Everett Smailes, 52, of the 1200 block of Bart James Road, has gone on to be with the Lord in heaven Oct. 20, 2010. A native of Gassaway, W.Va., he was the son of the late Van Allen Smailes Sr. and the late Betty Lou Mick Smailes. Paul attended Towne South Church of Christ. An electrician by trade and NICT certified, he had worked for East Coast Fire Protection. Paul is survived by the love of his life, wife Bonnie Smailes; three children, Richard Day and wife Melissa of Charlotte, N.C., Hope Wolfe and husband Mark of Chesapeake and Faith Getz and husband Aaron of Elkhart, Ind.; six grandchildren, LeAnn, Mark, Logan, Braelyn, Austyn and Isaiah; and three brothers, Van Allen and wife Darlene of Zebulon N.C., Douglas Wayne and wife Kim of Sutton W.Va., and Kevin Lee and wife Joni of Nitro, W.Va. A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. at Towne South Church of Christ, 2224 Peartree Road, Elizabeth City, with Minister Brad Giffin and the Rev. Doug Smailes officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to assist the family. Twiford Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church St., is serving the Smailes family. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.twifordfh.com.
