Raymond Heim Obituary

Raymond W. Heim Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Raymond W. Heim Sr., 71, passed away Oct. 16, 2010 in his home, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 24, 1939 in White Deer, Pa., spent eight years in the Navy which brought him to Virginia and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a well-known local fisherman and lure maker, and a member of the Virginia Beach Anglers Club. He was predeceased by his mother, Kathryn Koch and his wife Phyllis Heim. He is survived by his brother, George Heim Jr.; sister, Ardith Wilkins; daughter, Peggy Sue Duke; sons, Jerry Heim, Randy Heim, and Raymond Heim Jr. and fiancee, Tamela Zimmerman who was also Mr. Heim's companion. Also surviving Ray are his grandsons, Matthew Duke and Jeff Duke and wife Stephanie; and many friends. A funeral to celebrate Ray's life will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Woodlawn from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.woodlawngroup.com.

Sorry to hear of Ray's passing and for your loss. I met Ray at the USPS and learned quickly that the growling bear was really a soft hearted caring person. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of his family

Pop sometimes came off harsh but thats only if he really cared about you. LOL. He was THE MOST caring and giving person I have ever had the privilege of meeting. He was the rock of our family and he will be greatly missed. I know he is happier where he is. May he and Gram rest in peace!
