Raymond Powell Obituary

Raymond S. Powell CHESAPEAKE - Raymond S. Powell, 81, passed away Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 29, 1928 in Drexel, N.C., the son of the late James and Mary Powell. He was a former member of the United Auto Workers having worked at the Ford Motor Company for over 31 years. He served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Margaret and his son, Ronnie Powell. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Powell and his three sons, Greg Powell, Scott Powell, all of Chesapeake, and Randy Powell of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by his five grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Sentara Village of Chesapeake for their special care given to their father. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk 23502. Friends are also invited to send condolences and sign the online guestbook at www.omanfh.com.
