Portsmouth - Regina Genevieve Bachert Pittman, 87, passed away on June 29, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Pittman was born in South Greensburg, PA the daughter of the late Peter and Marie Wiemer Bachert. She was the widow of Thomas G. Pittman, Sr. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She retired from the Navy Commissary in Portsmouth. She also participated in the Cradock Civic League, church choir, finance committee and other church activities. Regina was predeceased by two sisters, Rose P. Bachert, Anita B. Sternick and a brother, Peter E. Bachert "Bud".
Survivors include her six children, Thomas G. Pittman, Jr, Willow M. Leiberman, Celeste P. Parks, Alise E. Pittman, Alexia C. Pittman, Peter R. Pittman; two sisters, Sylvia Ann Forsyth and husband Robert, Carol Mary Bachert; numerous grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday July 3, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 34 Afton Parkway, Portsmouth, VA. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the church before Mass. Burial will be at a later date in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Greensburg, PA.
