Robert Fletcher Obituary

Robert E. Fletcher Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Robert E. "Bob" Fletcher Jr., husband to the late Edith R. Fletcher and survived by wife of 34 years, Paula S. Brinson, died peacefully at home April 3, 2010 with his family after a lengthy illness. He lived his entire life in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. He attended Sacred Heart and St. Mary's Catholic Churches and schools and graduated from Belmont Abby in North Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper, attended college-level business courses, and had a long career in sales. He retired from ECPI Technical School after 25 years as director of admissions. An avid lifelong learner and a passionate amateur historian, he taught eight grade at Christ the King Catholic Church School where he was much admired. He was a devoted son, husband, and father who was widely known and loved for his keen intellect, sense of fun, charisma and open heart. He is survived by daughter, Catherine R. Fletcher, husband Edward Lueth; granddaughter, Charlotte; sons, Robert E. Fletcher III, wife Frances; son, Daniel F. Fletcher and wife Anne; grandson, Daniel James; granddaughter, Nicole; son, John "Joey" Joseph Fletcher and wife Veronica; granddaughters, Chelsea Jenkins and Skylar Jenkins; grandson, Cameron Fletcher; daughter, Laura Hamill; and granddaughter, Haley. The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later time and requests the contributions be made charity of choice in lieu of flowers. Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family.
