Robert Hicks Obituary

Robert K. Hicks VIRGINIA BEACH - Robert K. "Bob" Hicks, 82, U.S. Navy retired, passed peacefully at home Nov. 18, 2010. Born in Portland, Maine, he grew up in Scarboro. He was a graduate of Scarboro High, attended Northeastern Business College, various Navy schools, and retired from the Navy after 24 years of service, operating his own business thereafter until retiring in 1995. Bob was predeceased by his father, Harry Hicks; mother, Elizabeth Osgood; stepfather, Pat Osgood; and brother, Harold Hicks. Bob is survived by wife, Frances Hicks; daughters LeAnn Finney and Heidi Jeffreys; grandsons, Patrick, Nathan and Zachary Finney and Paul Jeffreys; granddaughters, Laura Holmes and Brynne Daulton; and soon to be 11 great-grandchildren. Bob was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where he gave generously of his time, talent and treasure. He was a member of the Masonic Orchard Lodge, AF & AM 215, Old Orchard, ME, Virginia Beach Shrine Club, Kedhive Shrine Temple, Fleet Reserve Association, and the VFW. His life will be celebrated by a mass at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Virginia Beach on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m., with a farewell party to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children via www.support.shrinershospitals.org. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cremate.org.
