Virginia Beach - Robert "Bob" Malkowski, 76, of Doctor Drive passed away December 17, 2013. Bob was born in Trenton, NJ; he served his country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War retiring after more than 20 years of service. Bob also retired from Norshipco as a rigger after twenty-six years. He was a founding member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and where he served as a Eucharist minister and for many years a member of the Men's Club. He was Past Grand Knight and longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Father Nicholas J. Habets Council #4632; a member of the Father Nicholas J. Habets Fourth Degree Assembly #1505; and current President of the Columbian Club.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 54 years, Lois Malkowski; sons, Robert D., John J. (Kathie) and Donald M. Malkowski; grandchildren, Jacob Malkowski (Meghan) and Rebekah Malkowski.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, December 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Reverend Timothy M. Kuhneman officiating followed by full military honors. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church, a Christian Wake service will begin at 7 p.m. The Knights of Columbus will hold a Chalice Service prior to the wake service. He will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. At the request of the family memorial donations may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church or the Father Nicholas J. Habets Knights of Columbus Council #4632.
