Robert J. Radcliffe Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Robert James Radcliffe Sr., 82, passed away June 15, 2010 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Bob worked for 22 years in the civil service and was the carpenter shop foreman on Little Creek Amphibious Base when he retired. He was a volunteer firefighter with Ocean Park Volunteer Fire Department, Virginia Beach for 30 years and was honored to be the assistant chief fireman as well as the fire chief. Bob was also an avid member of local Boy Scout Troop No. 442, Virginia Beach where he served as assistant Scoutmaster. Bob was a nationally recognized wild fowl wood carver, and was a member of the Virginia Beach Carving Club. He was also a lifetime member of the North Carolina Beach Buggy Association. Robert was the widower of Shirley Scott Radcliffe who passed January 2010. He is survived by his two sons, Robert James Radcliffe Jr. and William Scott Radcliffe; his daughter-in-law, Mary; and his four grandchildren, Ashley, Scott, BillieAnn, and Anna Radcliffe, all of Virginia Beach. He was a beloved, hardworking husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the community. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 21, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at Princess Anne Memorial Park, Virginia Beach with the Rev. Eleanor Norman officiating.
