Virginia Beach - On Saturday, June 30, 2012 Our Lord Savior called Rufus S. (Boh) Bell to his eternal rest and reward. Rufus was born to Dorothy Smith Bell and the late Rufus H. Bell Jr. on January 3, 1942 in Norfolk, Va. He attended Norfolk public schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High. He received his BA degree from Norfolk State University and continued his studies for a Masters at Old Dominion. Rufus was Asst. Director of Management for NRHA before his transition to the Dept of Corrections. Rufus retired as the Chief of Probation and Parole for the city of Portsmouth, Va. He also assisted Hale Funeral Home with their services.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 47 years, Eleanor Marie Bell, his son, Christopher J. Bell (Charlene) and three grandchildren: Christal Y. Bell, Quinton T. Anderson, and Deonte Leonard, his mother Mrs. Dorothy A. Bell, one sister, Dorothy Evans (Charles) and a son-in-law Quinton Anderson. His daughter Felicia Anderson, a sister Sandra Thompson and his father Rufus H. Bell Jr. preceded him in death. He is also survived by host of relatives and friends. Special thanks to all who assisted with his care.
Homegoing services will be held at St. John's AME Church, 545 E. Bute St., Norfolk on Saturday, July 7 at 10 a.m. Family will receive guests on Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hale Funeral Home. www.halefuneralhome.com
