Russell Gainey Obituary

Russell Lee Gainey NORFOLK - Russell Lee Gainey, 45, of the 7400 block of Fenner St., passed away April 30, 2010 in a local hospital. Russell was a native of Norfolk and the son of Mrs. Evelma Gainey and the late Mr. Herman Gainey Sr. He was employed by Paxton Company Marine Supplies. Mr. Gainey was predeceased by his father and brother, Franklin Gainey. Survivors include his mother, Evelma F. Gainey; two special daughters, Raquel Ricks and LaQuitta Ricks; one son, Russell Gainey Jr.; two sisters, Sheila Ford and Luella Ford; four brothers, Kenneth and Ronald Ford, Herman Jr. and Terry Gainey; a fiancée, Kaneisha Brownson; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at noon Friday, May 7, at Enoch Baptist Church, with Dr. Michael Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Graves Funeral Home. www.gravesfuneralhomeinc.com.

Earth has no sorrow that heaven can not heal. Sorry to hear about the passing of my class mate Russell Gainey. Terry and the rest of the Gainey family, God has Russell in the palm of his hands now, so you can rest assure he is at peace. I'll never forget Russell's kind heart, hearty laugh, and gentle smile. In my Father's house their are many mansions, and now Russell has gone to claim his mansion. Now it's up to the rest of us to live so that we can get our mansion also and see our Son, Brother, friend and classmate again. Be Blessed.
