Virginia Beach - Sheena Cumberland (nee Hutchinson), 65, passed away at home on June 13, 2013. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica, December 2, 1947, to the late Herbert Hutchinson and Melvena Myrie. She attended St. George's Girl School, and then Convent of Mercy "Alpha" Academy. She went to work for the Myrtle Bank Hotel where she met her husband Terrence Cumberland. They moved to the U.S. Naval Base, GTMO Bay, Cuba where they had two children. She worked for the Navy Exchange. They opened their homes to other Jamaicnas who were away from their families. In 2002, Terrence became ill. They left GTMO and moved to Norfolk, VA. In 2003 she began working for Portfolio Recovery Associates. She enjoyed her work and made many friends. In 2008 her husband of 40 years, Terrence passed away. In early 2011, she was diagnosed with cancer, but was full of life and continued to work through treatment. Early on June 13, she passed in her sleep.She had lived bravely, and was called to the other side by the Lord. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed. Sheena is survived by her children, Terrence Jr. (Elaine) and Lisette (Ken); grandchildren, Andre, Terrence, Jada, Kelise and Kencaid; brothers Eddie and Norman; sisters, Morna, Janet, Alecia, and Sharon, and numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives and dear friends. She is predeceased by her husband Terrence (2008) and brother Noel (2012). Funeral services will be held Saturday June 22 at 12 noon in St. Francis Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach. Sheena will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk next to her beloved husband. A viewing will Friday, June 21, from 2 until 8 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Service on Norview Ave in Norfolk, VA.
