Shirley Loundes Obituary

Shirley Helen Loundes PORTSMOUTH - It is with great sorrow that we report the passing of our beloved mom, grandmother and great-grandmother, Shirley Helen Loundes. She was born May 25, 1935 in Baltimore, Md. She died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at the age of 75 at her home in Portsmouth amongst family. She attended Norfolk State University, majoring in nursing education. She spent most of her professional life as a private duty nurse, a job in which she enjoyed. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was one of two children and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jonas Salter; sibling, Paul Rivers of New York and a son and daughter, Benjamin Riddick and Donna F. Taylor. She is survived by seven other children, Patricia H. Loundes, Linda M. Cobb, Michael A. Loundes, Sharon L. Ecklin (Gregory), Stacey L. Jones (Eric) and Alexandria Taylor, all of Portsmouth and Nichole Hatcher Wilson (Darryl) of Norfolk; 21 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; a host of friends and relatives out of New York and Baltimore. A funeral will be held today, June 18, at noon in Corprew Funeral Home. Viewing will be held today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
