Sybil Commander Obituary

Sybil L. Commander ELIZABETH CITY - Sybil Liverman Commander, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, in Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia, S.C. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, William Oscar Commander Sr. Survivors include her four children, Bill (Dot) Commander of Richmond, Kent (Brenda) Commander of Chesapeake, Sheri (Mike) Carpenter of Irmo, S.C, and Chris (Martha) Commander of Richmond. Sybil is also survived by five grandchildren, Sherri and Scott (Brandy) Commander of Charlotte, N.C., and Stefanie, Kristi, and Kevin Carpenter of Irmo and three great- grandchildren, Alex, Courtney, and Caleb Commander of Charlotte. A funeral will be Monday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at Twiford's Memorial Chapel in Elizabeth City. Memorial donations may be made to your local hospice organization or Benjamin House, 102 Meads Pool Road, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.

Sybil was a classmate of mine for our entire school career at ECHS.
By moving to the Outer Banks years ago, our paths did no cross often.
But I have always admired her, and have heard often of the good things she would do for others.
My sympathy and condolences go out to her entire family and friends.
