Timmie Brock Obituary

Timmie R. Brock Sr. SMITHFIELD - Timmie Renn Brock Sr., 50, passed away peacefully at home in Crewe, Va., Oct. 5, 2010 after a 5 1/2-year battle with colon cancer. Timmie was born in Suffolk, and was the son of the late Garland N. Sr. and Katie Ann Jones Brock. He lived in Smithfield most of his life and had resided in Crewe, Va., for the past 12 years. He was a certified nuclear welder with James River Mechanical. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed horseback riding. Timmie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a member of Belfast Baptist Church, Crewe. In addition to his parents, Timmie was preceded in death by his brother, Allen P. Brock. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 30 years, Cynthia "Cyndy" Brock; his daughters, Elizabeth Ann Thompson of Crewe, and Lillie Elizabeth Taylor of Virginia Beach; his sons, Garland Norfleet "Cotton" Brock III of Crewe and Timmie Renn Brock Jr. of California; two sisters, Phyllis B. Jones (George) and Debra B. Redd, both of Windsor; his brothers, Garland N. Brock Jr. (Kathy) of Smithfield and Raymond D. Brock (Cindy) of Windsor; grandchildren, Katelyn M. Brock, Raymond T. Brock, Matthew L. Thompson and Charles T. Thompson; his half sister, Shirley Luter of Suffolk; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family members. A service celebrating Timmie's life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, in Colonial Funeral Home with Pastor Walter Daniels Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home and at other times in the home of Garland and Kathy Brock, 8612 Mill Swamp Road, Smithfield. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
