Travis Owens Obituary

Travis K. Owens CAMDEN - Travis Kenneth Owens, 74, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010 at his residence. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from the Virginia Army National Guard 111th Artillery in Portsmouth. After retirement, he worked as a lawnmower mechanic in Sunbury, N.C., and Chesapeake. In the early 1970s, he and his wife, Dorothy, leased and operated Halstead Ranch in Chesapeake. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Grimes Owens; daughters, Charlan and Michelle Owens of Camden, and Kennie Owens Williams and husband Bill of Suffolk; brothers, "R.B." and Wilton Owens of Macclesfield, N.C. A memorial service will be held at Geneva Baptist Church in Camden at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, followed by visitation with the family in the church fellowship hall. Memorial donations may be made to Geneva Baptist Church, 812 NC Hwy. 343 N., Camden, NC 27921. Twiford Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, is assisting the family.
