Violet Carroll Obituary

Violet M. Carroll CHESAPEAKE - Violet M. Carroll, of the 800 block of Forest Lake Circle passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010. Born in Detroit, she was the daughter of the late Max and Elsie Schanze and was predeceased by her husband of 26 years, retired U.S. Navy Lt. John L. Carroll, and her brother, Max Schanze. Violet was pure joy to every life she touched. Her presence has left this world a better place. Her smile, her singing and her painting will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A great mom, her memory will be cherished by four daughters, Linda Cameron and husband Cal, Susan Palmer, Catherine Gavin and Violet Carroll; seven grandchildren, Justin Palmer, Jonathon Palmer, Christopher Cameron, Scott Cameron, Karl Gavin, Amanda Gavin and Brian Gavin; five great-grandchildren, Sebastain Palmer, Mackenzie Palmer Reed, Landon Palmer, Jeffrey Gotch and Dean Gotch. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Dr. Ralph Herbert will officiate. The interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Violet's extended family at Cedar Manor and Autumn Care, Great Bridge. Ahhh, Miss Violet, the beautiful woman who loved butterflies. I'm so sad to hear of her passing. Bless you all. I knew your Mom from volunteering at Cedar Manor. Heather Clayton

Violet, Cathy, Susan and Linda, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. She was such a wonderful person. I remember when we would all go dancing on Thursday and Saturday nights. She always had a smile for everyone.
