Virginia Jamerson Obituary

Virginia K. R. Jamerson VIRGINIA BEACH - Virginia Katherine "Kitty" Rosser Jamerson, 89, died Sept. 21, 2010. Born in Bertie County, North Carolina, Jan. 15, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Caroline Byrd Vaughan and Levy M. Vaughan of Franklin. Left to cherish the extraordinary life and memory of their beloved mother are her four daughters, Betty Mansfield Cannon of Chesapeake, Sheila Sands of Virginia Beach, Robbin Taylor Rosser of Virginia Beach and Carla Rosser Kidd of Virginia Beach. She was deeply loved and admired by her dear sons-in-law, Paul D. Cannon, Sandy Sands, Miles Kidd; and her former son-in-law, Gilbert Taylor. Mrs. Jamerson was predeceased by her husband of 24 years, U.S. Army Maj. Lewis Allen Rosser, and her late husband, former manager and director of Hampton Lodge in Coinjock, N.C., Harvey Jamerson. Additionally, she was predeceased by her especially loved grandson, Allen Brandt Mansfield. She is survived by her devoted and loving sister, Louise Vaughan Smith and her husband Kenton Smith of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. She was predeceased by her brother, Lonnie Vaughan; and sisters, Julia Vaughan Page and Mary Vaughan Hawkins. She is also survived by a devoted niece, Phyllis Hawkins Allgood and her husband Richard Allgood of Chesapeake and nephews, Wesley (wife Cyndie) and Michael Ferguson of Ohio, as well as numerous nieces and nephews of her late brother, Lonnie Vaughan and sister, Julia Page. Mrs. Jamerson is survived and was richly blessed by two devoted grandsons, Richard (Trey) Miller Mansfield III (wife Heather Mansfield) of Chesapeake and Ian Lewis Taylor (life partner Sarah Crawford) of Virginia Beach; and five great-grandsons, Tyler Mansfield, Logan Mansfield and Drew Mansfield of Chesapeake, Benjamin Jonah Taylor of Virginia Beach and Jonathan Taylor Compos of South Carolina. Mrs. Jamerson's life enriched the lives of all through her great love of life and optimism, and her extraordinary devotion to her family and friends. She had incisive intellect, great humor and laughter and a dear and sweet respect for others. She was a remarkable person of immense generosity and heart and spirit. She will be profoundly missed and always deeply loved. The family is especially grateful to Elnora Vick and Deneise Owens-Quamina for their devotion, care and friendship to our mother. Her kindness to all and her gentle touch and loving arms will always be missed by her loved ones. A visitation will be held today, Sept. 23 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502. A funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel Friday, Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be offered online at www.woodlawngroup.com.

To the Jamerson Family
I know how sad your hearts are for you loss, but remember it is not a loss, your lives are much richer for having the years of sharing with such a wonderful person. It has been my pleasure to have known Ms Jamerson for the past 5 years, to share in her care and smiles and laughter, for this my life has been made richer. She truly will leave a legacy for all who have been lucky enough to have shared her life.
