Virginia Tyler Pate Ivy|
Chesapeake - Virginia Tyler Pate Ivy, 98, passed away at home on December 27, 2012. She is predeceased by her parents, Nettie "Daisy" Tyler Pate and Thomas Franklin Pate, her sister, Lorene Pate Dickson, and her husband, Herbert Malcolm (Mac) Ivy.
She is survived by her daughters, Joan Ivy Edwards and husband, Wayne and Judith Ivy Hawksworth of Chesapeake. She is also survived by three granddaughters - Elise Edwards Walthall and her husband, E. B., Kimberly Hawksworth Sowers and her husband, Mark and Leslie Hawksworth Elliott and her husband, Brad, plus, four great-granddaughters, Brooke Walthall, Ashley Sowers, Megan Elliott, and Lauren Elliott.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Mon., Dec. 31, at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Pastor Frank T. Jennings of Covenant United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road, Suffolk.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Bon Secours Hospice as well as private caregivers, Kelly Wood and Chenell Peterson, for their superior professional and loving care.
