William O'Neal Jr.

William S. O'Neal Jr. CHESAPEAKE - William S. "Buddy" O'Neal Jr., 92, of Cedar Manor and formerly the 500 block of Hartswood Terrace, passed away Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010. Born in Norfolk County, he was the son of the late William S. Sr. and Wealphea P. O'Neal and predeceased by a son, William S. "Ted" O'Neal III. Buddy was graduate of Portlock High School. He worked for American Oil Company and later Amoco Oil Company for a total of 43 years of service. He then consulted for local oil companies during retirement. He was a longtime member of Great Bridge Baptist Church. Mr. O'Neal especially enjoyed doting on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife of 76 years, Elizabeth D. O'Neal; a granddaughter, Sara O'Neal Fairchild and husband Todd; a grandson, Steve O'Neal and wife Tracey; four great- grandchildren, Erin O'Neal, Brody Fairchild, Kelsie O'Neal and Stuart Fairchild. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park. The viewing will begin Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Great Bridge Baptist Church Building Fund, 640 Battlefield Blvd. S., Chesapeake, VA 23322.
