Willie Umphlett Obituary

Willie May Umphlett SUFFOLK - Willie May Umphlett, 72, went to be with the Lord Dec. 7, 2010 at her residence in Suffolk. Born in Franklin, Va., she was the daughter of the late Estelle and William Arrington. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mildred Cobb and Dana Gale; and brothers, William "Bill" Arrington, George Arrington, and Archie L. Arrington. Survivors include her daughters, Teresa K. Ely of Suffolk, Cindy A. Umphlett of Suffolk, Lisa McCarthy and husband Bob of Chesapeake; son, William E. Umphlett and wife Sherry of Chesapeake; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Marshall of Windsor, Sarah "Betty" Umphlett of Suffolk, Rose Marie Umphlett of Suffolk, Mary "Jenny" Satterfield of Portsmouth; brother, James H. Arrington of Suffolk. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. in the James River Community Church, 8909 Eclipse Drive, Suffolk, VA, 23433 by the Rev. Claude Marshall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 604 Constance Woods Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
