Archie E. McDearmid VIRGINIA BEACH - Archie Elton McDearmid, 81, died Jan. 27, 2010 in his home. Mr. McDearmid was a lifelong resident of the Tidewater area. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as head of the Photographic Arts/Video Production Department. He also owned and operated McDearmid Photography. He was past president of the Virginia Professional Photographers Association, the Southeastern Professional Photographers Association and the Professional Photographers of America. He held the degrees of Master of Photography, Craftsman Photographer, and Certified Professional Photographer. A charter member of the Virginia Bluewater Gamefish Association, Archie was an avid sports fisherman who cherished his time on the water. He was also actively involved in the Virginia Beach Neptune Festival. Survivors include his wife, Connie McDearmid; her parents, Jimmie and Lois Wright; a daughter, Pam Bennis; two sons, Keith and Gary McDearmid; daughter-in-law, Shanna McDearmid; brother, Andrew McDearmid; grandchildren, Kevin McDearmid, Ryan Bennis, Tiffany McDearmid and Courtney Bennis; and great-granddaughters, Bailey and Kalei. He is also survived by stepchildren, Jeff, Todd, Scott, and Sean Clodfelter and Kelly White; and 16 stepgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Anne "Polly" McDearmid. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Home, Laskin Road Chapel. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Norfolk. There will be visitation at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from noon to 1 p.m. Online condolences may be made to www.hdoliver.com.
