Virginia Beach - Azam Eveland of Alexandria, Virginia, formerly Azam Farashahi, 68, passed away on January 21, 2014. Born in Tehran, Iran, Ms. Eveland immigrated to the United States with her husband and children in 1979. She settled in Virginia Beach with her family where she lived before moving to Alexandria in the early 2000's. Ms. Eveland was sworn in as a U.S. citizen in the Norfolk federal courthouse on July 29, 1992.
Ms. Eveland is predeceased by her husband, "Gene" Eveland; her siblings Afsarolmolok Vafsi, Masoud Vafsi, Fereidoun Vafsi, and Soudabeh Vafsi. She is survived by her former husband, Mohammad Farashahi; her children Maryam Malakbeik, Afshin Farashahi, Katayoun Farashahi Hutson, and Farshad Farashahi; her grandchildren Adrian Hutson, Kavon Hutson, Sabryn Farashahi, Nadia Farashahi, Anita Farashahi, Reza Farashahi, and Layli Farashahi; her daughters-in-law Mary Farashahi and Jodi Farashahi; and her son-in-law Charles Hutson.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 31, at the Bayside Chapel of the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 1457 Independence Boulevard, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
