LCDR Charles Lynch

Virginia Beach - LCDR Charles "Bill" William Lynch, USN (ret.), 76 passed away on January 28, 2014. Bill was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Emma Lynch. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Judith; his brothers, Ed & Frank; and a sister, Arlene.

Bill entered the Navy in 1962 and was a Vietnam War Veteran who commanded a ship transporting troops through the Mekong Delta. His service afforded Judith and him the opportunity to live in various places throughout the world. After retiring service, Bill continued his education and then worked for Bank of America for 10 years. He was a dedicated auxiliary member of the Submarine Veterans of WWII. Bill enjoyed spending time in the outer banks, painting and challenging his mind with crossword & jigsaw puzzles.

Left to Cherish Bill's Memory is his brother, James; Sister-in-law, Sandy; Brothers-in-law, Robert & Vaughn; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. Bill was a positive guiding influence for the entire family and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the .

The family will receive friends on Tues., February 4th from 3:30-6:30pm at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 11am, with The Rev. John A. Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery on a later date. Condolences may be offered to the family at
