Robert S. Schaefer

Virginia Beach - Robert S. Schaefer, 88, of the 2400 block of Eastchester Dr., passed away on Feb. 15, 2014.

He was born in Newark, NJ to the late George W. Schaefer and Anna E. Ennis. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Theodore Schaefer and Mildred McGillivary. He served in the US Navy during WWII, Vietnam, and Korean wars. He served aboard the USS Taconic, USS Newport News, USS Macon, USS Springfield, USS Northampton, USS Tidewater, USS Barney, and the USS Denebola. He retired after 29 years of service. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Virginia Beach Chapter 20. After his retirement he went on and worked for the Board of Education as a bus driver and the US Postal Service.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lucette A. Schaefer of 51 years; siblings, George Schaefer and Albert Schaefer.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at 11:00 am at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, with burial to follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m., 7 until 9 p.m. and again one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
